It happens at the end of the film. When Mulan saves China from enemies, a woman introduces her to the Emperor. This character is played by Ming-Na Wen, who lent his voice to the original Mulan in the animated film. One of her most recent roles is as Melinda May in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Some Twitter users have discovered this 'easter-egg' and shared it through the famous social network.
"The flower that grows in adversity is the rarest and most beautiful of all," he shares @samfel26. "Ming-Na Wen's cameo in Mulan is all I can ask of 2020," he shares @Popfeminism.

THE CAMEO THAT ALMOST DOES NOT EXIST
During an interview with The New York Times, Wen has revealed how the film appeared. According to the actress, it all started with fans of the animated film asking on Twitter to be part of the project. "I asked my manager and my agent if it would be a possibility because I thought it would be fun. Then I spoke to producer Jason Reed and loved the idea, but by then I was shooting Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., so, as for the agenda, it was a logistical nightmare because Mulan was rolling in New Zealand. I had written a scene to be part of it, but the calendar didn't fit," she explains.

As Wen has revealed, it was originally going to be one of the potential mothers-in-law of the house scenes, but because of the weather, they needed me to be in New Zealand for a month. "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. producers took their hands to their heads: 'We can't lose you for a month!' I understood it and I've always been pretty zen about all this," he says. After this problem, the idea of his cameo was a little sideways. That's when Caro and Reed thought it would be better if, instead of shooting an entire scene, their participation was limited to just one appearance. "I thought it was appropriate and wonderful, a little 'easter-egg' in which I can spend the relay. And, this time, they only needed me for a week. Everything went well!" he concludes.
Mulan counts in his cast Liu Yifei, Donnie Yen, Gong Li, Jason Scott Lee, Jet Li, and Tzi Ma. The film can be viewed for 21.99 euros via Premium Access on Disney+ until November 2. Starting December 4, the film will be available to all subscribers of the streaming platform at no additional cost.
