The online dc FanDom convention will take place on August 22, 2020, and the program will include some news about movies like "The Batman," "Wonder Woman 1984" and other DC projects. "Aquaman 2" will also be the topic and we can already look forward to news about the film.

Ahead of the event, which is only virtual because of Corona, DC Comics posted a Q&A on Twitter with "Aquaman 2" director James Wan talking about the sequel to the blockbuster with Jason Momoa. A detail sounds really exciting!

Asked if "Aquaman 2" will include horror elements, Wan replied, "I'd say yes," and even elaborated on his plans. The director, who has already made some pretty successful horror films with "Saw" and "Insidious", explains that the genre eventually makes up a large part of his personality and that he has already laid the foundation for this in the first "Aquaman" film. He will add even more of his "creepy sauce" to the sequel.

MORE "AQUAMAN" HORROR IN "THE TRENCH"
In addition to "Aquaman 2", James Wan has another underwater world project in the pipeline. The spin-off "The Trench" will be about the Trench, one of the seven kingdoms of Atlantis, in which human-like creatures have evolved over centuries into amphibious underwater monsters. The production is a horror film, but Wan only appears as a producer.

"Aquaman 2" is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters in December 2022. "The Trench" hasn't hit theaters yet.
