Horror films are made in Bollywood, but there are only a few to remember them. Actually, an exciting subject like horror has not been introduced in Bollywood very much till now. It still has a lot of scopes. After the Ramsay Brothers, Vikram Bhatt, Ekta Kapoor has made some such films, or sometimes some smaller banners have made horror films. But Bollywood's top banners have not taken this genre very seriously. Yes, Ram Gopal Varma has definitely given some of the best films in this genre like 'Raat' and 'Bhoot'. Now Dharma Productions of a big producer-director like Karan Johar has also made a film like this for the first time - 'Bhoot: Part One - The Haunted Ship'. This is the story of a battered ship.

The film initially seems a little different from most Bollywood horror films. Many scenes create shuddering in the body, though the film does not create an atmosphere of fear-mongering. The script of the film is not strong. It has many bags. Bhanu Pratap Singh is fine as the director, he has introduced the film properly, but he has missed out as a writer. The film also reminds of Aamir Khan's 'Talaash' at times.
There is a big problem with the horror films in Bollywood that whatever the beginning, they get stuck on 'Oom and Hr Clem Chamundayai Vichchai'. The same has happened with this film. In the first half, the film raises expectations, it seems that something different will be seen, but after the interval, it starts to disintegrate. The formula slips from the writer-directors hands-on how to move the film forward and lead to an exciting climax. Lizards, bats, dolls, shattered hair, strange eyes and deformed faces of old men of human beings have been used to create fear in it. The cinematography of the film is good. Background music plays a very important role in horror films, so the background music of the film is good. To be fair, it is background music, which creates a bit of fear in the film.
Vicky Kaushal's acting is good. He has been successful in portraying his character properly. He has successfully expressed feelings of grief, depression, and fear. Ashutosh Rana has become a favorite name for such roles. From the very beginning of his career, he started playing such roles and this trend continues till today. His work is fine, but his character is not well crafted. Akash Dhar acting as Riyaz is good. Meher Vij is also fine. Parts of Bhumi Pednekar are just one or two scenes. He is the guest star in this film. Other minor characters have also done their job well.
If you like horror movies, there is no harm in watching it once. This film is a bit intimidating.
