From Harley Quinn to the next extravagant comic book heroine? Margot Robbie is to plan "Tank Girl" -Reboot

According to comic book author Alan Martin, Margot Robbie's production company has secured the rights to "Tank Girl" and is re-launching the Bad Ass heroine, who is experiencing crazy adventures in a post-apocalyptic desert landscape.

If you look at the "Tank Girl" comics, you can undoubtedly imagine Margot Robbie in the role of the spunky heroine. Whether or not we see the Harley Quinn actor traveling through an odyssey in a desert landscape destroyed by a meteorite, remains to be seen.

It certainly seems to be meanwhile, that the production company LuckyChap Entertainment, founded by Margot Robbie in 2014, has acquired the rights to the comic series created by comic book author Alan Martin and draftsman Jamie Hewlett in 1988: Martin announced this via Twitter, as he states, that the planned "Tank Girl" reboot is already under development for several months. "We have not yet been contacted by the people involved in the project," he continues, "so I'm not sure if there will be input from the creators."

"New" is the tweet of course because there was already a film adaptation of the substance: In Rachel Talalay comic adaptation of 1995 took over Lori Petty ("Orange Is The New Black") the part of Tank Girl. Other roles include Naomi Watts as Jet Girl and Ice-T as T-Saint in the Sci-Fi-Actioner. Settled in 2033, when the earth was transformed into a dry desert landscape after a meteorite strike, in the film the powerful Water and Power group led by the cunning Kessler (Malcolm McDowell) exercises control over the scarce water resources. The dead tank girl is one of the few fighters who oppose the tyrant.

In the comics, the Tank Girl, whose real name is Rebecca Buck, with her partially shaved skull and punk clothing as hard and unscrupulous described outwardly, for her friends, meanwhile, is the best ally. She lives in a battle tank and experiences a crazy odyssey in the post-apocalyptic, destroyed desert landscape of Australia.

An official announcement of the project is still pending and Margot Robbie - if she should actually take over the role of the title hero herself - is currently covered with numerous other projects, so implementation is likely to take some time. On February 6, 2020, the "Harley Quinn spin-off" will be released in the theaters with "Birds Of Prey" and together with other DC villains, she will return to James Gunn's "Suicide Squad 2" in the USA to start on August 6, 2021. Her other upcoming films include the biopic "Bombshell," in which she stars alongside Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman.
