The film is directed by Vincenzo Natali and starring Patrick Wilson, who will attend the contest.

Stephen King's novels continue to reach the big screen, this time, in style. In the tall grass, a film based on a short story by the master of terror will open Sitges 2019. The festival will open its doors for another year on October 3 and will do so with this film directed by Vincenzo Natali. The director is already a familiar face of Sitges since he attended the festival with Cube -work that made him a winner in 1998-, Cypher and Splice.

The protagonist of the film is Patrick Wilson, an actor who has already participated in other films of the genre such as the Insidious saga or Warren File, both by James Wan. Both Wilson and Natali will attend the festival to present the film.

"In this way, Netflix opts for Sitges to present one of the most anticipated titles among fans of the genre," can be read in the official statement by the organization of the contest

Stephen King wrote this supernatural story with Joe Hill, which was published in Esquire in 2012 divided into two parts. The story focuses on the brothers Becky and Cal, who, after hearing the cry of a child, enter a field of tall grass in Kansas to rescue him. However, both remain trapped, since a sinister force disorients them. Their problems have just begun since the worst will begin when this creature finds them.

Director Vincenzo Natali is also working with Netflix on Locke & Key, the series that adapts the well-known comic that Joe Hill, King's son, began publishing in 2008.
