James Cameron premieres 'Avatar 2' on December 17, 2021, in the US, again with Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana.
Despite having ceased to be the highest-grossing film in history in favor of Avengers: Endgame, James Cameron's Avatar will still have a place in Disney's plans after the acquisition of 21st Century Fox. Avatar 2, again with Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, like Jake Sully and Neytiri, opens in the US theaters on December 17, 2021. But that is not the only saga that the company intends to exploit in the coming years. As CBM collects, Bob Iger, president of The Walt Disney Company, has also promised the survival of The Planet of the Apes.
Always according to Iger, and taking into account Fox's recent blockbusters such as the X-Men: Dark Phoenix -252 million dollars raised worldwide-, Disney will manage and take the titles of the brand acquired "towards a new direction" and "with a completely new development program that will focus on a selected group of properties." We speak of Avatar of James Cameron, of The Planet of the Apes - after the trilogy composed of The Origin of the Planet of the Apes (2011), The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and The War of the Planet of the Apes (2017 ), these last two by Matt Reeves- and, although details are still missing, also from Alien and The Maze Runner.
On the other hand, and as we have already told you in SensaCine, Disney also plans 'reboots' of Solo at home, Twelve at home, Night at the museum and Greg's diary for its Disney + streaming platform
