'Children of Blood and Bone' could become the first project of the new Lucasfilm outside of 'Star Wars' and 'Indiana Jones'

The film is an adaptation of the novel written by Tomi Adeyemi.

Disney already has a new franchise in its hands that could become Lucasfilm's first film outside of Star Wars and Indiana Jones. According to Deadline, The House of Mickey Mouse wants to bring to the big screen the adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone, the novel written by Tomi Adeyemi that we talked about a long time ago when it was announced that Rick Famuyiwa would be placed behind the cameras of the draft.

It was Fox who took the rights to the novel and, after the purchase of the studio by Disney, they have become part of the latter company. The media cited above states that Kay Oyegun, screenwriter for This Is Us, is reaching an agreement to write a new script for this adaptation in which Famuyiwa is still involved as a director. Apparently, the project has caught Lucasfilm's attention and its president Kathleen Kennedy wants to turn it into a new property of the company.

If the adaptation is made, it could be the beginning of a new film franchise. Children of blood and bone are the first installment of the saga The Legacies of Orïsha and this year its author will publish the second part entitled Children of Virtue and Vengeance - still without a title in Spanish.

Children of blood and bone follow Zelie Adebola, a young woman born in a place called Orïsha that has changed too much in recent years. By order of the king, all magic practitioners known as majors have been persecuted and annihilated. The protagonist decides to return the magic to her people and for this, she must ally with a princess on the run and learn to control her powers.

While you're waiting for news about the project, don't miss the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer. The outcome of the new Star Wars trilogy, directed by J.J. Abrams, opens on December 20.
