The film with Robert Pattinson as the Batman of DC Comics opens in theaters On October 1, 2021.
This weekend, during the DC FanDome online event, Warner Bros. and DC Comics have featured, among other commercials, the first teaser trailer for The Batman. The Dark Knight's 'reboot', which opens in theaters On October 1, 2021, is directed by Matt Reeves, who has opted for a raw and realistic story based on the more detective profile of Gotham's Batman, played by Robert Pattinson. Although the film is not based on any particular comic, Reeves has revealed during Saturday's Saturday's panel that Darwyn Cooke's Batman: Ego has inspired him a lot of inspiration.
"I wanted to get into the character's way of thinking and I wanted to grieve in psychology," said Matt Reeves about his process to get to the Batman that will play by Robert Pattinson. "In my case, I think one of the good dives was Batman: Ego from Darwyn. He's confronting the beast that is Batman and has that kind of duality... There's a lot he was trying to do in history about him facing the dark side of himself and the extent to which you're aware of it. You're able to understand your motivations, but Batman is someone fractured... So, while he's doing all these things for the reasons he thinks are right, and they have that kind of heroic rudiment in them, there are also many things that are motivated by parts of him that he doesn't even know yet. So I'd say that kind of psychological union, that version is very connected to Darwyn Cooke's vision of Batman: Ego."

BRUCE WAYNE VS. Batman
Released in 2000, Ego follows in Bruce Wayne's footsteps as he attempts to take down The Joker with the help of one of his lackeys, Buster Knibbs. But, after informing Batman, Snibbs kills his family for fear and commits suicide before the Clown Prince of Crime kills them. This causes big blame on Bruce, who wonders if he is making a change in Gotham with his actions. Does your fight have a purpose? Is it sensible for you to continue it? Thus, Wayne argues with Batman, his dark reflection, about topics as diverse as his methods, his motivations, his code of not killing, his villainous, or his own psyche. After all, a battle against itself.
